Republic of Iraq Passport
For Ramzi Yousef (aka Abdul Basit Karim)

When Ramzi Yousef -- the key member of the 1993 conspiracy and the
builder of the World Trade Center bomb -- arrived in New York City on
September 1, 1992, he was using a valid Iraqi passport, issued in
Baghdad and showing Baghdad as his place of residence.

The immigration inspector at JFK airport who processed Yousef’s entry to the US
testified at his trial that the passport appeared to be a legitimate Iraqi passport
and had not been altered.
(US vs. Mohammed Salameh, et al.  Mark Cozine, JFK
Immigration inspector: Direct Examination, November 9, 1993, p. 2409; Cross
Examination, November 10, 1993, p. 2542.)
The passport was accordingly admitted
as evidence and is part of the public trial record.

The 9-11 Commission Report notes that the passport and all its contents are valid,
with nothing missing, though the passport had evidently been opened and
restitched.  Like Yousef’s 1993 application for his Pakistan passport, the Iraq
passport has a blank signature line.

The
passport may be viewed in pdf format.  Below is the account of the
information page and the travel history as recorded in the passport stamps.  The
stamps show a journey beginning in Baghdad, through Jordan to Pakistan.

To recap:  the mastermind of the 1993 bombing of the World Trade
Center entered the U.S. on a valid Iraq passport, three months after he
left Baghdad.

On his arrival in New York he made contact almost immediately with
Mohammed Salameh -- who had made over 40 phone calls to Baghdad
two months earlier.
