The 1993 World Trade Center bombing was meant to topple one tower onto the other. Although it left a five-story crater, it fortunately caused only limited casualties.
The head of FBI-NY, the late Jim Fox, stated that he believed that Iraq was involved in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing:
“Although we are unable to say with certainty the Iraqis were behind the bombing, that is certainly the theory accepted by most of the veteran investigators.” (October 24, 1994, letter in support of Study of Revenge.)
New York FBI was the lead investigative agency in the case. Jim Fox’s background was in counter-intelligence; the ease of the arrests in the bombing case suggested to him a calculated exit plan, in which the planners would escape, leaving the second tier of conspirators -- the Islamic militants -- to take the rap.
That investigation might have only historical significance -- except that the same family of terrorist masterminds struck several times again, including on September 11, 2001.
1993 Revisited
Nothing could be more important for U.S. security policy than to understand who these terrorists are and how they were supported. Nevertheless, there has been no official attention to the questions raised by NY FBI in 1993. As of November 2004, this website is the only resource to review that evidence in the context of 9/11. • Examine the trial evidence: Salameh's phone log; Yousef's Iraqi passport, and the documents Yousef presented to obtain his Pakistani passport. • Investigate the Baluch connection and the fingerprints puzzle. And assess the discrepancies in the identification of the terrorist masterminds, based on their physical descriptions.
Begin with the phone log showing Mohammed Salameh's repeated phone calls to Iraq.
